Smokey Robinson Says ‘I’m Looking Back And I Know I Could Die’ After the COVID-19 Fight

Smoking Robinson opens up about her clash with COVID-19.

In a recent interview, the 81-year-old singer, shared her experience of the deadly virus that took over the U.S. in 2020, and sent her to hospital.

Smokey Robinson says he was arrested COVID-19 back in December and spent 11-days in a Los Angeles hospital. As he said,

“I was strong on COVID. I took it seriously and I was hospitalized for 11 days, and four or five of those I don’t remember. It was really touched and gone, and a terrible debilitating disease.”

Robinson explained that he wasn’t sure how he contracted the virus but recalled feeling ‘weird and funny’ before Christmas. Within 48 hours of moving their guest to quarantine away from his wife, Smokey Robinson says things were changing and he was rushed to the hospital.

He added,

“It’s a good thing I never use the fan. I never lose my taste or smell, but it fades away from me. I lose my energy and can’t walk from bed to the bathroom without getting tired.”

Something that isCrusinThe ‘singer remembers the time he thought he had lost his voice. Fearing he would never sing again he said,

“I can hardly speak. Even when I got home, I was down. I couldn’t try to sing because I was scared. It was one of the scariest fights I’ve ever had. ”

After a terrifying ordeal, Robinson admitted that the weight of it all didn’t hit him until he got home. As he said,

“Nothing of this really scared me until I got home. When I was there trying to recover while weak I didn’t think of dying. I thought, ‘I’m going to get better.’ I looked back and knew I could die, because it was so bad. Then I was scared of it. It sounds weird, I know, but the severity of my condition didn’t hit me until it was over. ”

The singer begins to rebuild her strength through walking and finally daily exercise. The Motown founder is also preparing to return to the stage. In his voice he shared,

“I had to do my vocal cords and put myself together. I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life, and it was possible, so I did it,” he said. “I love my job… This is what keeps me going. ”
