The victim was eventually revealed to be a woman named Stephanie Crone-Overholts, who moved to Florida from Erie, Pennsylvania. It had already returned to the house where he was reported missing on Nov. 11, the same day that parts of his fish were taken out of the water.

What happened between his leaving PA and burying less at sea?

That’s what investigators are trying to come up with now, and a big piece of the puzzle is finding out where he lives. A man she had been with for a while offered a great sign. The man, who currently chooses to remain anonymous, spoke WFLA on Monday about his relationship with the late 47-year-old.

He said he met Stephanie for the first time in a McDonald’s parking lot, where a brief conversation about their shared town of Erie led to his move. The man said:

“I met him at Fletcher’s at McDonald’s. My little girl and I met him and he had a plate in Pennsylvania and in his car, and it was obvious that he was homeless and staying in his car, and he explained. to me that his ankles were swollen because he slept in his car. ”

He is homeless? We know he has family back in Pennsylvania. Why is he living in his car in Tampa ??

The good Samaritan said he offered the unlucky woman a room in his house:

“I only invited him to stay because I have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and he’s from Erie, Pennsylvania, and I worked in the City of Erie once 40 years ago.”

He moved into his home in Lutz, an unincorporated area about 15 miles north of Tampa. All was well at first, but the man said his family quickly noticed that he had personal problems that made them uncomfortable:

“He doesn’t spend a lot of time at home. Sometimes she was away all night, but she always functioned normally and she was always nice and meticulous in cleaning the house for me. We were talking about Erie and the mall was gone and yada, yada and that was it and I told her she had to leave, and a day or two later, she left. ”

The man may not have been known to the public, but he assured the outlet that the authorities were well aware of his story and that he was fully cooperating with them:

“They got the search warrant and they took my van, and they couldn’t find it. There is no evidence there. There is evidence that he may have been here, but that is all. ”
