There’s a new Prince of Bel-Air in town, and honestly, we’re not upset about it! NBC’s beloved comedy The New Prince of Bel-Air officially taking reboot treatment with a slight twist. The modern-day set series, titled Bel-Air, is an hour-long drama that nods with pride from the original ’90s sitcom. The new show will once again explore Will’s (Jabari Banks) traveling from “the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air,” and digging into deeper social issues.
The contemporary series is inspired by a viral YouTube trailer made by Fresh Prince super fan Morgan Cooper. Reboot for classic movies for widespread in years now, but still Will Smith can’t resist Cooper’s association to make his vision into the real thing!
Cooper’s original video, released in March 2019, gives us a brief look at what such a cross between Dear White Peopleformat and There is no certaintyfashion style. TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson were also tapped as showrunners and executive producers for the show.
